Let's hit up some charming shops

Found this video on one of our fan's websites, Whatever's Tight.

I honestly think Kobe would benefit from a friend like this.

Pico Auto Show Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

This coming Sunday we're going to be at Virginia Avenue Park on the corner of Pico and Cloverfield. Its a Cinco de Mayo Auto show on May 2nd. Normally I only like to celebrate holidays on the actual day of, not the weekend before but I'm going to make an exception for this one and celebrate both Sunday the 2nd and Wednesday the cinco.

Come on through its Sunday May 2nd from 1pm to 5:30pm. Bring your classic car by and show it off too. No place like Santa Monica for a classic car show.

The Picture of the Week

Root beer and pizza is a heavenly combo.

Drinking 7up or Sprite with your pizza is like drinking a glass of Riesling with a rib eye. What I'm saying is have a root beer or a coke with your slice and you'll be happier.

In other news: NBA playoffs, I love this game. Let's go Bulls.

Pop Farts

Convinced now? I'm not sure if they're serious either but I think they're freakin funny as hell and they've got me puttin my hood over my head. Ok, you caught me in a lie, I'm quite sure they're not serious.

Here's a little more for you. I think you might be a little more familiar with this one.

Hyper Crush Mix Tape for sale

I'm inspired. Keep an eye out for our new group ULTRA SLAM

Yelp Reviews Reviewed (Hope M.)

Whaaat? I'll give this review an "Oh Brother", two "ghaas" and a "Puhhhleez!"

No need to torture yourself and your mother any longer Hope, as I've discovered they sell shrimp other places than Joe's Crab Shack. You're so welcome very much.

USC Pizza

The best pizza at USC? The answer is and will always be SliceTruck. We are only getting started, you're going to want to get on this train now.

Would you like us to deliver you a pizza at USC? Then call us at 310-944-2474 and we will deliver to you. Here's our menu. That is if we're open. You can also mosey on over to the pizza truck itself and grab a slice or two and a root beer. The place you will most likely find us is on Jefferson at McClintock. If you don't see us, or want specifics call 310-944-2474 and we'll let you know where we are.

Pizza at the University of Southern California? SC pizza? Trojan Pizza? USC pizza delivery? SliceTruck everytime.

Do yourself a favor and don't eat pizza anywhere else. But do what you want of course.

The Zara

Our One Millionth customer. Congratulations Zara, enjoy the trip to Sant Tropez and the T-Shirt.

...and the song we wrote about you.

Yelp Review Reviewed (Michael)

Dear Michael,

We've noticed your review of SliceTruck and felt your review deserved to be reviewed.

-Great way to start a paragraph, I applaud you.

"Hands Down the best pizza"

-"Hands Down" is our favorite superlative.

"glass bottle Crush"

-Important to note. I've got my spine, I've got my Orange Crush.

"none of that Pizza Hut crap"

-Wait one second here. You do know you can get any size pizza with any topping at Pizza Hut for only $10.

"The sauce is pleasantly rich and a bit tangy"

-All sarcasm aside, this is exactly what we were going for and I'm thrilled you actually get it.

"they have "t-shirt roulette""

-Very nice, as it should be mentioned

SliceTruck's review of your review.

Initially I thought, "a review on the interenet"? Meh. How could this possibly be good? But then I read it and I was like nom nom. If you're used to reviews off a newspaper you may not be ready for this but I'd say it was damn good and I plan to try other reviews off the internet.

The Art of Living

Thursday, Friday and Saturday SliceTruck will be at The Art of Living's Inauguration Gala Reception.

We'll be serving a selection Violence and Stress Free pizza slices.

You will need tickets to go to the Gala but SliceTruck will be open to the public at 2636 Hoover St. LA, 90007 just south of Adams. We will be serving from 11:30am until 7pm Thursday and Friday, and from 12-5pm on Saturday.

The Art of Living's Mission is as follows:

The Art of Living Foundation promotes global harmony and uplifts society by strengthening one individual at a time. Its programs teach a blend of ancient eastern breathing techniques and wisdom that help eliminate stress, restore the highest human values and encourage people from all backgrounds, religions and cultural traditions to come together in celebration and service to humanity.

Sounds pretty decent to me.

TechCrunch Attempts to Make a Porn

Another post having nothing to do with pizza.

One blog I follow is TechCrunch and I found this video amusing. I also find the rise and fall of MySpace amusing along with the Twitter and its future fall.

Food Truck Show

Heard today that our friends at the Irish Taco Truck are in for the food truck reality show on The Food Network. They're shipping out in a week.

Congratulations guys, we're big time pulling for you to win the $500,000 prize and the keys to a brand new Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing.

Ok, maybe there's no Irish Taco Truck but there is a truck that we're rooting for but the Food Network asked that we took this information off our site. Please post in the comments the name of any of the trucks you know are in the show.

Food Truck Reality TV Show

Too good looking I guess.

After all our hard work and enthusiasm during the casting process for The Food Network's food truck reality tv show we've been notified that we've been banned from the show and the network because we would have too easily won the whole thing along with the $500,000 cash prize.

We were told the show will be set up Amazing Race style, where the trucks travel from town to town across the country and have cookoff/sales challenges in a journey from Los Angeles to New York. Winning truck taking the cash prize.

Here are some articles out there so far about the Food Truck Reality TV Show:

laist: Now Prepping: Food Truck TV Show

Seattle Blogs: Food Network Discovers Food Trucks

MobileCravings: Food Network – Food Truck Competition

Here's our actual rejection letter:

Just wanted to say thank you so much for your enthusiasm and all of your hard work through the casting process for our show!

We are sorry to say that unfortunately we cannot offer you a spot on our cast for this season. But we think you are great and you will definitely be in consideration for a season 2 if we have one.

Thanks again for everything!

Relativity Media

If anyone can find any other articles about the show or knows which trucks were cast or have any guesses please post in the comments.

The Week of Jerkin' and Tiger Woods

If Tiger Woods wins the Masters this week I will officially admit that he is without question the greatest golfer of all time. This probably sounds bad but what I hope happens is that he's up 4 strokes with 3 holes to play on Sunday and he blows up; bogey, double bogey, double bogey gives away The Masters and has a major meltdown on the course on TV. Why? I think he's smug.

You say, "That's bad Karma SliceTruck". I'm like, "yeah, I didn't mean it".

Ok, good.

Aight, this weeks schedule is as follows.

Monday: USC all day
Tuesday: USC all day
Wednesday: USC all day
Thursday: Best Cupcakes in L.A. maybe. Frosted Cupcakery 1200 N. Highland Avenue for lunch 11:30-2:30pm then USC for rest of the night.
Friday: USC
Saturday: Showdown LA. Doin' a "Jerkin'" event at the LA Convention center from 8pm to 4am. Yep, its exactly what you think it is. A Jerkin' battle. A little Jerkin and eating pizza. The newest dance craze. This is actually the biggest Jerkin' battle ever. What's your biggest Jerkin' battle ever? More info in video below.

Yelp Review Reviewed

We've decided to start reviewing reviews. We'll see where this goes, I'm sure this will encourage some shenanigans on Yelp but we'll take the risk.

"slice of cheese pizza.....for the price of $3 or $5 for two"

We had those prices for about a week in January when we first started. Have you been working on this review for the last 3 months? It shows that it was posted 4/6/2010. Must be a relief to have finally finished the SliceTruck review that's been looming over your head.

"drink options are also pretty small and pretty expensive"

Our cans of soda and bottles of water are 12 ounces and they cost $1 with sales tax included. I'm from outerspace.

"a $5 slice of pizza just seems way too much no matter what sort of fusion fancy pants stuff you're putting on it."

For 2 days we grated white truffles over mushroom slices and sold them for $5 a slice. White truffles are super expensive and we lost money making these. This was in March.

On a positive note, thanks for rounding up your stars.

SliceTruck's review of your review: F because it was late. If this was posted in January when you tried the truck I'd give it a C-. Main problem with this review is that you never explained why it wasn't very good.

Irish Tacos

Hey, I'm Hanley, welcome to SliceTruck, welcome to Hanleytownmerica, other people want to make friends, I just want to help you make money, because my job is not just to entertain and feed you pizza, but to inspire and help you put into action your questionable food truck ideas.

Tons of people come up to our truck and ask about and talk about it so we figured we'd help out. If you don't think this market is overbought, here are some ideas we've put together for anyone who's planning on starting a food truck of their own.

Are you ready, skee-daddy?

The Thanksgiving Dinner Truck:

Pretty obvious right? Serve Thanksgiving dinner everyday off a truck. This would probably be easier than pizza.Roast a few Turkey's, whip some potatos etc, add some pies in the mix (pumpkin, pecan) trademark the "leftover sandwich" and you're in business. Definitely do a 'mon-back on this one, and load up.

The Irish Taco Truck:

Maybe not as obvious as Thanksgiving dinner, but possibly even more obvious. Being Irish we sometimes like to put a real plain spin on food, and people here in L.A. seem to love fusion tacos. Here's how you make Irish tacos; ground beef browned with salt and pepper, Ortega hard shells, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, ketchup mixed with tabasco. Assembly directions: shell, meat, cheese, ketcup mix, lettuce. Simple, easy to do on a truck. Starting this truck would definitely be a "house of pleasure".

The Sports Bar Truck:

This truck would have TV's all over it with sports playing. Serve hot wings, blue cheese celery, a burger, some other deep fried nonsense and you're set. Seems super obvious, few problems with this one though. Can't serve beer off a truck (I wonder if you can serve non alcoholic beer?) and sports bars have terrible food usually. But I think there are people who love food at sports bars who also love seeing "plasma" tv's everywhere. Also, this one would get a lot of private party booking where they bring the beer. Ka-ching Ka-ching Ka-ching Boo-Yah!
