Common Ground and Compromise

If two people are trying to order a pizza and the first one wants theirs topped with sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms but the second one wants onions, garlic and anchovies and they end up getting a cheese pizza to avoid a debate, I would call this a compromise and this is a bad thing.

But if this same situation existed and the second person said to the first I like sausage and mushrooms but don't like pepperoni and the other said, I like garlic or onions but not both and I do not like anchovies at all. If they get a pizza with sausage, mushrooms and onions or sausage, mushrooms and garlic they will have found common ground and this is a good thing.
